CITI Training Instructions

The CITI program allows users to view the training in multiple sessions.  The Refresher training takes approximately 2 hours to complete.

Step 1:    Go to http://www.citiprogram.org/default.asp?language=english.

Step 2:    Click on "New Users Register Here" and complete registration steps 1-4.

        • Click on the “Participating Institutions” field, then scroll down and click on “Appalachian State University.”
        • Enter a user name and password that can be easily remembered (perhaps your ASU user name and password). Then enter your name and preferred email address. Click Submit.

Step 3:    The next screen asks for additional member information.

        • In the field “Which course do you plan to take?” select either:
          •  Refresher Course  – Biomedical, or
          •  Refresher Course – Social and Behavioral.
        • Complete all fields and then click Submit at the bottom of the page.

Step 4:     On the “Select Curriculum” screen, select “I have completed the Basic Course” under item #1. 
                Scroll down to #2 to select the appropriate (Biomedical or Social & Behavioral) Refresher training. 

        • If you want to complete the Basic training, select either the Biomedical Research or the Social & Behavioral Research Investigators under #1.
        • Click Submit at the bottom of the page.

Step 5:   On the “Select Your Institution” screen, click No at the bottom of the page.

Step 6:    On the “Main Menu” page, click on the View Appalachian State University Instructions Page at the right margin opposite the text “Appalachian State University. After reading the information, click on the “Close this window to return” box at the bottom of the page.

Step 7:    Now click on Not started - Enter under “Status” to begin the CITI Training

The site will notify the IRB Administrator of your successful completion of the training, and you will be able to print a certificate for your own records.
