Funding Opportunities
About conference travel
Some organizations do offer travel grants to attend conferences, but most only accept applications once each year. For conferences less than one year away, the Office of Student Research is the best source of support for students, and departmental funds are the best source for faculty members. For conference travel more than one year away, please consult these lists of conference and travel funding opportunities for students and for faculty. You can narrow these lists by clicking Refine Your Query at the top of the screen and adding a search term for your discipline, such as "history."
About stand-alone costs
The following expenses could potentially be funded by a grant if they are built into the budget of a larger project, but they are extremely difficult to fund as stand-alone costs:
- Indexing, editing, or publication subventions
- Dissemination or publicity
- Supplies and food
- Payment for research subjects
